A triumphal return for Andrew, who gave a performance filled with intricacy, accuracy and passion. Before each section, the programme music and composers were put into context in a short introduction.

Munch with Music - April 2025

The next Munch with Music will be held in the church on 2nd April 2025 featuring Andrew Garrido on piano.

You are invited to bring your own ‘Munch’.

Admission is free, donations are welcome.

Coffee, tea and biscuits from 12:15pm, with the performance starting at 12:45pm and lasting about 45 minutes.

The following Munch will be on 7th May 2025, with Yohei Nakajima on viola and Miho Sanou on piano.

Forest Church is back in 2025!

All sessions are on Saturdays, 3pm-3.45pm in Caterham School's Pre-prep outdoor area (unless otherwise stated).

26 April: at St John's Church - hedgehog house building session 'Stewardship of creation'
24 May: Spring - prayer mandalas, leaf prayers, blossom painting 'Consider the lilies'
June: No Meeting
19 July: water play - building twig boats 'Calming the storm'
16 August: Harvest/ foraging - Blackberries, bird feeders with apples and picnic 'God's provision'
13 September: Spiders, bugs and tiny overlooked things 'God of the little things'

After the activities last Saturday (15 March), there is a pile of chippings by the church tower (west end), for you to take away.

Please come and fill yer boots! (a wheelbarrow, car or other similar receptacle may be more practical ?)

Bells to Caterham

The Sunday morning service (9 March 2025) at St John the Evangelist commemorated and celebrated the installation of the bells in St John's in 1975. The bells came from St Mary's Lambeth.

During the service:

two of our ringers, Alan and Noel, read lessons
there was a talk: Noel made a brief introduction, focusing mainly on our band of ringers and trailing Milica’s talk on the bells themselves; Milica, using extensive research, dove down into the history of St Mary's bells that later became St John's Bells
there was ringing while communion was being taken
the vicar, Jaimée, blessed / rededicated the bells and bell ringers from the ringing chamber
after the service and during the refreshments we rang call changes
